India has reported a total of 3,961 active COVID-19 cases, reflecting a gradual uptick in infections across several key states. According to the Union Health Ministry’s latest update, 203 new cases were added to the national tally since Sunday. The increase has prompted heightened monitoring by health authorities and renewed efforts to ensure preparedness across the country.
Kerala, Maharashtra Lead in Active Case Count
Kerala has emerged as the state with the highest number of active cases at 1,435, followed by Maharashtra with 506 cases. Maharashtra has also reported three COVID-related deaths, including that of a 67-year-old man with severe pneumonia and a 21-year-old individual suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis.
Delhi, meanwhile, has 483 active cases and recorded two deaths, involving a 60-year-old woman recovering from intestinal surgery and a 22-year-old woman with post-tuberculosis lung complications.

Hospital Readiness and Central Response
Hospitals across the country are reinforcing their COVID-19 protocols. Dr. RML Hospital in Delhi has discharged its last four COVID-19 patients and currently reports zero active cases. Dr. Pawan Kumar, head of the hospital’s COVID-19 unit, reassured the public of their preparedness:
“We are fully prepared with a 9-bed isolation ward and an oxygen regeneration plant. Most cases continue to be mild. There is no need to panic, but timely consultation and testing are key.”
In a statement issued Friday, Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, confirmed that the Centre is closely monitoring the evolving situation.
“Our Central Health and AYUSH departments are fully alert. We’ve reviewed infrastructure such as oxygen plants and ICU facilities and are confident in our ability to handle any potential surge,” said Jadhav.
He further assured that coordination with state health departments remains ongoing, with contingency measures already activated.
Public Advisory
While the current case load remains within manageable limits, the Health Ministry continues to urge the public to remain vigilant, follow hygiene protocols, and seek medical help promptly if symptoms arise.
India’s pandemic response infrastructure, developed over the past few years, remains in place and is being actively maintained in light of the recent uptick in cases. The situation, although under control, serves as a reminder of the importance of ongoing vigilance in the face of evolving health threats.
